Contemporary Design

Contemporary design can be described as a modern design that relies on smooth and polished surfaces, clean lines, simple and uncluttered look. It is inviting, spacious and comfortable.   It focuses on neutral colors, such as creams, whites, browns, blacks and taupe. Bold colors, such as red or yellow, are for accent.   Silk, velvet, linen and wool warm the sleek lines of contemporary design accompanied with wood furniture that is light or dark. Upholstered furniture is comfortable, but not bulky. Unique lighting, artwork, and other interesting accenting pieces are added for pizazz in the room.

Traditional Design

Traditional home designs are cozy, comfortable and calming.  Hallmarks of a traditional room include carved moldings, fine woodwork, graceful lines, and sturdy, finely crafted furniture.  An overstuffed, sumptuous sofa, soft accent pillows, framed wall decorations and elegant fabric curtains are a few details often found in a traditional room.

Transitional Design

Transitional style is a marriage of traditional and contemporary furniture, finishes, materials and fabrics equating to a classic, timeless design. Furniture lines are simple yet sophisticated, featuring either straight lines or rounded profiles. Fabrics can be bold and fun to add interest to the room or simple and quite for clarity. Using a mix of different textured fabrics is a great way to add depth to the design. The transitional palette relies on a lack of color to evoke a clean, serene atmosphere. Dark brown can add depth to a neutral balance of taupe, tan and vanilla.
